About the Artist

"As an artist, I want the viewer to be drawn to my paintings for their rich color schemes, texture, and the use of light and shadow.  I desire the subject matter to evoke emotion, and allow the viewer to experience feelings that stem from their own life experiences."

Carolee Glaittli (pronounced Go-lightly) was born in Chicago, and raised in Salt Lake City. She received her degree in fine art from the University of Utah.

Following graduation, Carolee studied under the very talented water-colorist, Harold Petersen.  It was here that she became immersed in the medium of watercolor. She states, "Watercolor has a look and feel that I love. It can be very accurate and precise, or loose and spontaneous.  It depends on the mood I'm in."

I use layers of transparent glazes. It can be time consuming, but the rich color and texture it produces is well worth it.  Her work has been exhibited at the Springville Art Museum and has received many honors. She has her work in private collections throughout the US, Cananda and Europe.  Carolee is also the painter of "Birth of a Prayer" - a painting commissioned by the musician Sting.
